Mission of the Town Clerk’s Office
The Ipswich Town Clerk’s Office aim is to provide the highest level of professional service to all in the application of the multitude of duties and responsibilities set out for it in Massachusetts General Law, Massachusetts Government, the By-Laws of the Town of Ipswich, historic duties assigned by successive Boards of Selectmen and any new assignments set by contemporary leadership. The clerk continuously advances “best practices” for Massachusetts Governments in all these areas including vital records, conduct of elections, certification of voters and licensing of marriages, businesses, shellfish, and dogs. Customers of the office’s services are provided with the most timely, complete, efficient and competent attention with emphasis on the highest levels of civility and respect to which all persons are entitled.
Dog registration period is Jan 1 - March 31. Fees are $15 for S/N & $20 for intact dogs. Per Town By-laws late fees are $10/mo. or part thereof for dogs registered after March 31st. Please contact the Town Clerk's Office with questions at 978.356.6677.
Nomination papers for the Annual Town Election are available at the Town Clerk's Office. Fifty certifiable signatures of Registered Voters must be obtained for a name to be placed on the ballot. The papers must be returned no later than April 2nd at 5 PM.
The Annual Town Election will be held on May 21, 2019. The open seats are: Select Board-2 seats/3 yrs; School Committee-2 seats/3 yrs; Housing Authority-1 seat/5yrs & Moderator-1 seat/1yr. Nomination Papers available Jan 2nd at the Town Clerk's Office.
